Staying Healthy While Travelling
There are many ways to stay active and healthy while travelling. Here are some tips for flying:
1) Bring an empty water bottle with you in your carry-on. Most airports nowadays have filtered water fountains beside every washroom. Once you get through security, fill up your water bottle to stay hydrated.
2) Bring your own snacks. Some of the best and easiest snacks to bring are: rice cakes, protein bars, baby carrots, sliced peppers, Babybel cheese, celery, almonds and cashews.
3) Get some exercise while you wait to board your flight. Walk to another gate or terminal, stretch it out before you're sitting for hours.
4) If you are travelling internationally and are unable to bring meat or produce, most restaurants are very flexible and will cater to your needs. Order a plain grilled chicken breast, steamed vegetables (no butter, no oil), rice or potatoes. Most salads tend to be high in fat, so ask for the dressing on the side.
A lot of people tend to get stressed out when they go away, however it really isn't difficult to exercise or to eat healthy. Most hotels have gyms, a lot of destinations are very walkable, and most restaurants are flexible in their food selections.
